Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical training with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat problems stretching from regular afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet frequently experience.
