Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are instructed to address complications ranging from simple problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which provide them the experience required to carry out surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and protect against countless troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
