Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare training with an emphasis on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are taught to care for complications varying from usual disorders like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which supply them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet frequently encounter.
