Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and actually many podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained extensive medical education with an attention to on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to care for complications stretching from usual ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet generally encounter.
