Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive healthcare training with a focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to handle concerns ranging from simple disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and prevent countless complications which the feet frequently encounter.
