Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging health care education with an emphasis on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to handle conditions ranging from conventional problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical training which give them the expertise required to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid numerous conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
