Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing healthcare training with an emphasis on complications involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to address problems ranging from usual ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against numerous issues which the feet usually encounter.
