Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained considerable medical instruction with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle problems extending from conventional afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and protect against a large number of problems which the feet frequently encounter.
