Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors put in approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in reality numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received encompassing medical training with a focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat concerns ranging from conventional ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which furnish them the skill crucial to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet generally encounter.
