Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive medical instruction with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are qualified to manage problems ranging from regular conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which give them the expertise required to execute surgery on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
