Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.
At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical instruction with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to care for complications varying from basic disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the experience essential to conduct surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.
Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against countless complications which the feet typically encounter.
