Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained substantial medical training with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are educated to treat difficulties stretching from general ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which furnish them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those troubles that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet normally encounter.
