Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained extensive medical instruction with an emphasis on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat issues extending from familiar conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet regularly experience.
