Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical training with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to care for complications extending from common problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those concerns that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of countless complications which the feet regularly encounter.
