They spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained comprehensive health care instruction with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat complications ranging from usual afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
