Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive health care training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for problems ranging from normal afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the practical experience required to conduct surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet frequently encounter.
