Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical instruction with an emphasis on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to address problems stretching from general ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to execute surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet normally encounter.
