Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received encompassing healthcare instruction with an emphasis on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address conditions stretching from general ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience required to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet commonly encounter.
