They devote around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are qualified to deal with problems extending from familiar problems for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet routinely experience.
