Our doctors devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received significant medical instruction with an emphasis on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat concerns ranging from regular conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet routinely encounter.
