Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial health care training with an attention to on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are skilled to handle problems stretching from regular afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet generally encounter.
