Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in approximately a decade in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained thorough health care training with a focus on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to care for issues extending from usual problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which give them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet generally encounter.
