Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained wide-ranging healthcare training with a focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to address complications ranging from basic conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which supply them the practical experience required to conduct surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet normally encounter.
