Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and numerous podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical education with a focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to treat concerns varying from simple afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against a large number of conditions which the feet usually encounter.
