Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive health care instruction with a focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to deal with difficulties ranging from common problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which give them the expertise required to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet normally experience.
