Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received significant health care instruction with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat conditions stretching from common disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
