Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive healthcare training with a focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are taught to handle difficulties ranging from regular ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience essential to carry out surgery on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent numerous problems which the feet usually encounter.
