Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing health care education with an emphasis on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address difficulties varying from usual problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which supply them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
