Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained thorough medical training with a concentration on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems extending from commonplace problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which furnish them the practical experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet commonly encounter.
