Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have gained substantial healthcare training with an importance on complications involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address conditions varying from basic ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet routinely encounter.
