Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired significant health care instruction with a stress on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are taught to address difficulties varying from common ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which give them the practical experience necessary to execute surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet normally encounter.
