Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive healthcare training with an importance on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to deal with problems ranging from commonplace ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which give them the experience vital to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet regularly experience.
