Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained wide-ranging medical training with a main focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are skilled to handle problems ranging from commonplace disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
