Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired substantial healthcare training with an emphasis on problems involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to treat concerns varying from commonplace afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the expertise vital to carry out surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
