Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable medical education with a stress on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to handle problems ranging from regular afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which give them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent numerous complications which the feet frequently encounter.
