Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs lie inside these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial medical training with a stress on issues involving the feet and ankles. They are educated to deal with conditions ranging from usual afflictions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet regularly experience.
