Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received substantial healthcare training with a stress on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to care for concerns stretching from typical disorders like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which furnish them the experience required to execute surgery on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet typically experience.
