Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in approximately a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received thorough healthcare training with an importance on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against countless issues which the feet normally experience.
