Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and many podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained comprehensive medical instruction with a concentration on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are taught to deal with difficulties varying from common ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet normally experience.
