Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired wide-ranging health care training with an importance on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to treat problems varying from regular disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the experience required to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet frequently encounter.
