Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have acquired wide-ranging healthcare education with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to care for problems ranging from commonplace disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which provide them the prior experience required to carry out surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet normally encounter.
