Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive health care training with a focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are educated to deal with problems ranging from general problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which supply them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent numerous troubles which the feet generally experience.
