Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical education with a stress on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. They are qualified to deal with conditions varying from typical afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which supply them the practical experience required to conduct surgery on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent countless problems which the feet generally experience.
