Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained significant medical instruction with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to manage problems ranging from familiar conditions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the prior experience vital to perform surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet commonly encounter.
