Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial health care training with an importance on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat problems ranging from commonplace afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which supply them the expertise essential to conduct surgery on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet generally encounter.
