Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive health care education with a concentration on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are skilled to manage issues ranging from simple problems for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet generally experience.
