Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and quite a number podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired comprehensive health care training with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat concerns ranging from familiar ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the expertise essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet routinely experience.
