Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with an attention to on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to care for complications ranging from simple afflictions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the experience crucial to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities.
