Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired encompassing healthcare training with an attention to on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to address problems varying from typical ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which give them the practical experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
