Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive healthcare instruction with a stress on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat concerns stretching from general ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which supply them the expertise essential to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against numerous problems which the feet regularly encounter.
